Fred Breinersdorfer (born 6 December 1946 in Mannheim) is a prominent German screenwriter, producer and film director.
Fred Breinersdorfer studied law and worked as a lawyer before he debuted as an author of crime fiction in 1980, writing detective novels published by Rowohlt. Since 1980 he has written numerous screenplays for the Tatort TV crime fiction series and other TV productions. His first full-length cinema screenplay was for the 2005 production of Sophie Scholl – The Final Days, which was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 78th Academy Awards.
